Stunning entrance to the home, preserving the natural look of the mountain

This enchanting Southwest Contemporary on three pristine acres perched high atop Carefree's Black Mountain, features a breathtaking 270-degree, North-East-South panorama of rugged mountains, city lights and tranquil desert.  Attention to detail and exceptional finishes are immediately evident to the visitor--moss rock flagstone gathered from the surface, vintage reclaimed oak plank flooring, distinctive handcrafted cabinetry, fossil stone, granite and travertine surfaces and rolled viga and plaster ceiling treatments, all harmonize with the natural boulder outcroppings that are the focal point of the home's interior.

A dramatic foyer draws you into the expansive Great Room where you can see actual boulders on the mountain become part of the walls of the dining room and upstairs entertainment bar. From this area, the Great Room open space continues into the Gourmet Kitchen, all framed by the massive real stone fireplace. Vistas through the retractable glass walls lure you out to the pool and patio complete with fireplace and full outdoor kitchen with pizza oven.  The luxurious Master Suite offers unsurpassed views from it's private patio-perfect for viewing Arizona sunrises.  A secluded media-family room, and twin downstairs bedrooms with appealing baths and patios, translate into privacy for guests and hosts alike.  Call Russ Lyon Sotheby's International agent Preston Westmoreland for your own tour you will NEVER forget!

"A Wonderful Place in which to view the town," K.T. Palmer, co-founder, Town of Carefree.

According to K.T. Palmer's autobiography, "For Land's Sake," when he and Tom Darlington founded the Town of Carefree, they both picked what they thought were the choicest building spots on which to build a home. (See Tom Darlington's home, bottom of photo to left. K.T.'s home was just to the left of that, off the photo) One day, when Mr. Palmer was recuperating from a heart attack, he decided he needed some exercise, and he decided to build steps up Black Mountain.  Each day he felt better, and according to his close friend, Martha Arnold, he built a step a day, until he had constructed 585 of them.   He enjoyed climbing up Black Mountain to a "wonderful place in which to view the town and forget my troubles." Neither man could ever have imagined that someday, high above their houses (home on top of photo), near K.T.'s trail, would be this dream home to enjoy!
